2025 Annual
Report
In Kansas City,
as it is in Heaven.
Dear Midtown
Church,
Each year, it has become our custom to pause, reflect, and rejoice as we survey God’s activity in our midst. 2025 marked five years of on-the-ground ministry in Kansas City and four years of weekly worship in Midtown. Time and time again, God has proven himself more than capable of providing ‘our daily bread,’ and more astonishingly, he chooses to include us in that provision.
In January, we spent time as a community reflecting on the role of technology in our lives and considering how it was forming (or deforming) us in the Way of Jesus. In April, we celebrated the resurrection of Jesus with our largest worship gathering to date.
In May, we commissioned Amanda Berger as a missionary to Colombia and sent her off with all the love, fun, and support we could muster. At the end of the summer, we partnered with three other area churches to put on a worship night in the middle of the city. It was a profound time of God’s presence, drawing His Church together.
By the fall, we added four new members to the ministry team: a pastor of microchurches, an associate pastor, an assistant kids director, and a director of social responsibility (all those new team members are detailed below).
Reports and numbers fail to capture the whole story, but our prayer is that as you look over this report, you would be in awe of God’s work in our midst. He is knitting together a people for himself in Kansas City who might bear witness to his unfolding Kingdom. We’re grateful for your part in that story.

Lead Pastors of Midtown Church
Revealing the Kingdom
Week after week, we gather in homes and in Midtown to declare the Kingdom of Jesus has come. That all may come to know the abundance of our King through our words and by our lives.
We aim to be the type of people who can step into eternity, in Jesus’ kingdom, and be right at home. And so, we gather around the things the Jesus-people have always gathered around; prayer, scripture, and mission. We gather to share stories, joys, and heartache. We gather to be reminded we are never alone.
In doing so we will gradually learn what it is to live as citizens of His Kingdom.
Microchurch
This past year, we commissioned Alycia Keffer as pastor of Microchurches. Her role is to shepherd, train, and support microchurch leaders as they minister across the city. We hosted three training events across the year that gave leaders a chance to collaborate with one another.
By the end of 2025, we laid the groundwork for a new microchurch to begin and launched a new curriculum website for all microchurches: microchurch.guide.

Sunday Gatherings
Success for any local church is not the size of their gatherings, but the quality of their disciples. We believe commitment to Sunday gathering is a rhythm that helps us grow in the likeness of Jesus..
10 new volunteers added this year
5 Lunch Parties connecting new people to the church.
Serve
This year, Midtown hosted and participated in six serve days in partnership with local nonprofits and community institutions including Agape Pamoja, Replenish KC, Something to Eat KC, Hope Center, Central High School, and citywide initiatives like KC Day of Hope. These serve days included home renovation projects, meal packing for local pantries, teacher appreciation events, school supply drives, prom support for Central High School students, and community celebrations such as Juneteenth.
Beyond serve days, Midtown developed a sustained partnership with Central High School and the Rose Brooks Center’s Project Safe program. Beginning in February 2025, Midtown provided weekly snacks for Project Safe support groups, leading to increased attendance and a positive impact on students’ day-to-day experience. The success of this initiative helped catalyze a grant partnership that now provides snack support for Project Safe groups across Kansas City.

A Church of Many Workers
The biblical vision for the church is the body of Christ: one body made up of many distinct parts. At Midtown, we want everyone to belong—honoring our differences and distinctiveness—and we strive to be a community where many people each carry a few responsibilities, rather than a few carrying many.
In 2025, Midtown’s Ministry Team grew with the addition of Chris Chandler as Associate Pastor, Brooke Bowlin as Director of Social Responsibility, and Tyler Conway as Pastoral Resident. We also celebrated the promotion of Corbin White to Pastor of Gatherings, Alycia Keffer to Pastor of Microchurches, and Margaret Reams to Associate Director of Children.

Neighbors Coffee + Hospitality
After years of prayerful planning and patient groundwork, 2025 marked a major milestone for Neighbors Coffee + Hospitality with the official opening of their coffee shop in the Marlborough neighborhood. What began in 2023 as a missional vision has now taken visible shape in a welcoming space designed for connection.
This year, Neighbors Coffee served over 10,000 people. That’s 10,000 cups of affordable coffee, shared moments, and reminders that community still matters. 2025 also brought exciting growth in their commitment to social responsibility. Neighbors Coffee hired two aged-out foster youth as apprentices, offering meaningful employment, mentorship, and long-term support.
As Neighbors Church continues to take shape, the community remains committed to a steady rhythm of monthly gatherings and weekly microchurch meetings. This slow, grassroots approach has been deeply healing, grounding the work in presence, relationship, and trust.
Amanda Berger– Missionary to Armenia, Columbia
In 2025, Midtown Church joyfully sent Amanda Berger into her next season of ministry as a Career Missionary with the Assemblies of God. After years of faithful leadership and service as an Associate Pastor at Midtown, Amanda concluded her time with the church in May and was prayerfully commissioned during her final Sunday with the community.
By June, Amanda was fully funded and departed for missions training in Springfield, Missouri. In September, she continued her preparation by traveling to Costa Rica for language school, an important step as she prepares to serve in Colombia. Amanda is moving toward her calling to help establish a substance abuse recovery program in Armenia, Colombia, and we are grateful to continue partnering with her through prayer and financial support.
Teachings
In 2025 we reflected on discipleship in a digital age, the seven deadly sins, John’s account of Easter, reflections on becoming a community, Paul’s letter to the Philippian Church, and the advent story.
