Gospel Participation
In the beginning, humanity was invited to be God’s co-laborers; intercessors called to freely and joyfully partner with him to cultivate our good world. As the story goes, humans have gotten into the habit of contributing to the chaos, rather than cultivating it. However, God’s invitation, to be His collaborator in pushing back the dark, is still open.
We are being offered the profound opportunity to be His Gospel collaborators; partners demonstrating the justice and beauty of Jesus!
Declaring Jesus as King.
The community of local and global witnesses.
The Gospel is the proclamation of God’s vision for creation. Christ enters the world and gives us a vision for a new life, a new community, a new world– a new Kingdom. Thus Christ’s proclamation to “repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand” (Mt. 4:17) is His invitation to visualize a new kind of future for our lives and our world, then to respond accordingly.
This Kingdom vision is always introduced externally, but quickly became the internalized compass for the journey. Therefore, the Church, the gathered body of Christ must be a constant proclamation of this Kingdom vision. Every gathering, every activity, and every conversation is inviting others to glimpse a new vision.
The vision of the Kingdom of God, as declared and manifested by Jesus, becomes the “true north” for all that have confessed allegiance to Christ. Every facet of our lives is submitted and weighed in light of that vision.
Participation in Christ’s mission is not the task of a few but the mission of all who call Him Lord.
