Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Lenten Season– 40 days that lead to Easter as we journey to the cross with Jesus. We know that the way to Easter is the way of the Cross. 

So on Ash Wednesday we stop to reflect on our mortality, our sinfulness, and the dying of self that comes with new life in Christ.
