Snow Day Liturgy
As we sit at home instead of gathering on this snowy January day, set aside some time to pray and worship the Lord.

+ Call to Worshipⓘ
Let us together prepare our hearts in worship.
God of this snowy season
your power is evident in all the world.
We come together in person and virtually;
with thankfulness, we sing praises,
with thoughtfulness, we listen to scripture,
with trust, we put ourselves in your hands.
In this service draw us close to one another
and form us as your people,
faithful in every season.
Amen.
+ Silence & Confession of Sins ⓘ
For a moment, let us sit in silence reflecting on our actions this past week and together, we will confess and be reminded that we are the forgiven community.
+ Psalmⓘ
Let us hear the word of the Lord from the Psalms.
Praise the Lord from the earth,
you great sea creatures and all ocean depths,
lightning and hail, snow and clouds,
stormy winds that do his bidding,
you mountains and all hills,
fruit trees and all cedars,
wild animals and all cattle,
small creatures and flying birds,
kings of the earth and all nations,
you princes and all rulers on earth,
young men and women,
old men and children.
Psalm 148:7-12
+ The Apostles’ Creed ⓘ
Let us affirm our faith with the words of the Apostles’ Creed.
+ Scripture Reading
Let us open the scriptures and learn the story of Christ.
Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord and who admonish you. Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other. And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone. Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else.
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
Do not quench the Spirit. Do not treat prophecies with contempt but test them all; hold on to what is good, reject every kind of evil.
May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.
Brothers and sisters, pray for us. Greet all God’s people with a holy kiss. I charge you before the Lord to have this letter read to all the brothers and sisters.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
1 Thessalonians 5:12-18
+ Lord's Prayer ⓘ
As our Savior taught us, so we pray;
+ Confession of the Mysteryⓘ
Let us confess the Mystery of our Faith.
A prayer to remember who we are.
Holy Lamplighter, as night prematurely encroaches upon us each day, may your illumination brighten our souls. As we wait for dawn’s first glimmer, may the warmth you carry radiate across this community. Kindle our hearts made cold by the world’s frostiness, and brighten the road ahead as we ponder what is most important in our lives.
Amen.
